Painting You With Words
You never seem to mind when
I splatter you with flattery,
or cover you in a kaleidoscope
of complimentary colors.
You’re the most pleasing palette,
perfectly posed without complaint,
commanding focus and concentration
with no concern for my constraint.
I love to trace your figure
with a deliberate artistic touch,
committing you to memory,
so well versed in every line.
Contemplating every contour,
carefully studying such splendid symmetry,
then composing heartfelt sentiments
in fanciful inventive imagery.
By any definition you’re beyond
most logic and description,
by design I live to paint you
with expressive imagination.
To portray your essential essence
requires no explicit shade or hue,
just colorful strokes of genius brushed
from my admiring point of view.
A note from Chris

Loved that poetry is a painting and the world is your canvas. You captured it perfectly!
yes wonderful artwork, the poem suits it well =)
What a lovely painting with matching lovely words ~ I specially like the second stanza ~
Thanks Grace! And I am a big fan of your work and site! I am very grateful for your visit today and your very kind comments! I am still a newbie and having fun learning the ropes!
What a beautiful portrait you paint with your words…To portray your essential essence requires no explicit shade or hue,
just colorful strokes of genius brushed from my admiring point of view…Love it!
Susie, Thanks so very much….this poem was a lot of fun to do! I do have to admit that I have over a hundred hours invested in it’s creation. By the Way….just linked your site on my home page! I love your blog and your work Susie.
Really liked this line: “Commanding focus and concentration with no concern for my constraint!”
How brilliantly articulated! I really enjoyed reading your writing as much as your art work. Your words paint an image themselves as your title suggests. Really beautiful indeed!
you’ve done a work of genius. I’ve enjoyed your arts.
very beautiful painting and poem!
your words placed to this image is well versed, enjoyed the excitement you placed within. ~ Rose
Awesome! As a painter and writer, I love the imagery and the combination of concepts.
This was lovely and sweet. Loved the couplets too, just wonderful!
stunning painting…and your words bring it to life as well…great use of alliteration to set the pace as well…fluid…i like…
Brian, so….you noticed a little bit of alliteration did you? As a newbie, I do get tempted to get a little extreme on that element most likely! In this particular case I definitely headed down the alliteration road very easily as I penned away! This poem was so much fun to write! Thanks for sharing today! And yes – Robert Joyner’s painting is beautiful in every way! Look at the painting sideways and tell me what you see? 😉
nice replay today sir…a little splatter paint and tracing goes a long way..smiles…
Brian, yes, I had to take a “fall-back” approach to the d’VersePoets prompt! But I am very fond of this particular poem and I think it resonates well with the first anniversary week celebrations ! And congrats are in order for all of our dVerse Poets Pub fearless leaders!!
Thought this just a brilliant weave of words. The colours of the art work are stunning, and you’ve managed to capture that same vibrancy with your words. Fantastic work, Poet!
Tash, As I wrote this poem I was afraid that I might be tempted to be a little too clever with my word crafting…. and then there is always my “crafty nature” that is always a consideration! Hopefully I found the right balance! Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy and certainly for your wonderful comments!
what a wonderful piece of artwork – both, the painting and your words… creativity in motion…using all the tools to capture the colors and the moods of a person, a moment, a mood…enjoyed this and nice to meet you
Claudia, thanks for your encouraging words….I, too, am most happy with the results! The painting really does reflect exactly what I had envisioned when I set out to write this poem.
